Imagine God's Possible

Ever feel like you’re living in the “in-between”? In between who you were and you want to be? In between who you are and who God is calling you to be? In between your current reality and your dreams? In between the latest storm in your life and the next string of sunny days? I think a lot of us are – maybe we always are “in between” something… Maybe we never really “arrive,” yet we can “arrive” at our next chapter. We can dream new dreams and allow God to deliver us to His next chapter for our lives.

Summer is a time for dreaming. A time for sitting by the water, with toes dipped in the cool waters. A time for dreaming of simpler days, for reliving memories of our childhood summers, and remembering when life’s biggest decisions were whether to get chocolate or vanilla ice cream.

It’s almost the end of school here – many of you may already be starting your summers. I’m sitting at the playground today, enjoying the first sunny weekend day we’ve had all spring. The water in the splash park is running, the kids are counting down the days until summer break begins, and it feels like a new season is beginning.

Dream the Impossible… Imagine God’s Possible…

This summer, I invite you to dream with me and imagine what new season may be around the corner for you. Enjoy simple summer joys and dream of where God may be taking you next. If you feel stuck in your current chapter, imagine a new story. Imagine a story even beyond what you think is possible. Dip your toes in the cool waters of possibility, God’s possibilities. Stretch your legs upon the sands of dreams and imagine a new tide rolling into your life.

Through the summer, I’m going to be exploring how God takes our impossible and turns them into His possible. How God gives us dreams and enables us to do far more than we can imagine. We’ll rest in His promises, dream His dreams, and imagine what next chapter God may have planned for our lives. Will you join me?

    Yes I’m planning on this summer. I have a lot of dreams… and I have to say “I have been in between”.     This sounds like a great series, Kathryn! I’ve got just two more school days to go (and then my son’s graduation party Saturday). After that, summer begins for me! Thanks for reminding me today about my impossible dreams. I plan to take some time to pursue them this summer.

    I love this idea of spending the summer dreaming the impossible and imagining God’s possible. What a wonderful way to focus your attention.

    I’m reading a little book by Priscilla Shirer called, “God is Able.” It is based on Eph. 3:20, and reminds us that God is able to do exceedingly, abundantly beyond all that we ask or think.

    I’ll look forward to reading more of your series. (Came over on Grace & Truth).

    The in-between can be rough. I type this as my husband is (impatiently) waiting to see if he got his dream job or not. I’m cautiously optimistic about our dreams right now.     Too long did the enemy squelch my dreaming, but about a decade ago, God spoke to my heart clearly, and now each day I choose to anticipate God’s goodness and to CHOOSE to dream and believe! So glad to be your neighbor at the Weekend Brew!
