Back to School Prayer for Students

Almighty Father, Everlasting God, hear my prayer over each child as they head back to school. Steady their hearts and calm their anxieties as they prepare for a new school year. Protect them and keep them safe, allowing them to focus on learning and growing. Open their ears to hear wisdom. Help them seek understanding and insight. Lead them to make wise choices and mercifully correct them when they don’t. May they feel your presence daily in their school and seek to reflect your love to all around them. Open their eyes to see through love, their ears to hear your wisdom, their minds to learn knowledge and understanding, their mouths to speak kindness, and their hearts to love others with compassion and grace. Amen.

Proverbs 2:1-11 (NLT)

My child, listen to what I say,
    and treasure my commands.
² Tune your ears to wisdom,
    and concentrate on understanding.
³ Cry out for insight,
    and ask for understanding.
⁴ Search for them as you would for silver;
    seek them like hidden treasures.
⁵ Then you will understand what it means to fear the Lord,
    and you will gain knowledge of God.
⁶ For the Lord grants wisdom!
    From his mouth come knowledge and understanding.
⁷ He grants a treasure of common sense to the honest.
    He is a shield to those who walk with integrity.
