Do you ever wonder if your prayers are good enough, fancy enough, powerful enough?
Prayer doesn’t have to be fancy or use big words or be lengthy to be powerful. Even a few words can be a prayer that changes lives.
If you want to experience prayer that works, try these 3 simple (but life-changing) prayers from Psalm 25.
Prayer doesn’t have to be complicated. Even simple prayers can be powerful.
If your prayer life needs a start or a reboot, try one of these three prayers. Though the words may be few, when the meaning is heartfelt, the impact can be life-changing.
I’ve prayed each of these – and still regularly pray them – and have experienced God’s transforming power in my own heart. Start with the one you need the most and keep praying until your heart opens to God. Pray until you believe the words you’re praying, until the prayer becomes the song of your heart.
“It is not enough to begin to pray, nor to pray aright; nor is it enough to continue for a time to pray; but we must patiently, believingly, continue in prayer until we obtain an answer; and further we have not only to continue in prayer unto the end, but we have also to believe that God does hear us, and will answer our prayers. Most frequently we fail in not continuing in prayer until the blessing is obtained, and in not expecting the blessing.” — George Müller
3 Simple Prayers That Will Change Your Life
Praying through scripture, especially the Psalms, is one of the most powerful and impactful ways I like to pray. The Psalms are the prayers and praises of God’s people, words that cover every human emotion and need, God’s words prayed out to him.
Psalm 25 gives us three simple, yet powerful prayers. Prayers that have the potential to change your heart and your life – if you’ll allow your heart to believe and submit to God’s will.
1) In you, Lord, I put my trust
To You, O Lord, I lift up my soul. O my God, in You I [have unwavering] trust [and I rely on You with steadfast confidence], Do not let me be ashamed or my hope in You be disappointed; Do not let my enemies triumph over me. Indeed, none of those who [expectantly] wait for You will be ashamed; Those who turn away from what is right and deal treacherously without cause will be ashamed (humiliated, embarrassed).( Amplified Bible)
Pray these verses to put your trust in God, releasing your control over a situation or decision you’re facing. Pray for unwavering trust in God and steadfast confidence that he will walk with you through whatever you’re facing.
2) Make me and lead me, O Lord
Make me to know your ways, O Lord; teach me your paths. Lead me in your truth and teach me, for you are the God of my salvation; for you I wait all the day long. ( ESV)
Pray these verses to submit your plans to God. Pray to release your own attempts to control your life and allow God to lead you. Ask God to show you the path to His better future for your life, for he is the God of your salvation and the one who wants the best for your life.
3) Forgive me, Lord
Remember, Lord, your great mercy and love, for they are from of old. Do not remember the sins of my youth and my rebellious ways; according to your love remember me, for you, Lord, are good. Good and upright is the Lord; therefore he instructs sinners in his ways. He guides the humble in what is right and teaches them his way. All the ways of the Lord are loving and faithful toward those who keep the demands of his covenant. For the sake of your name, Lord, forgive my iniquity, though it is great.( NIV)
We all sin. That’s the base of the human condition. We are rebellious against the way God wants us to live. We turn from the path he sets before us. We make mistakes. Yet we serve a God full of grace and mercy. He will guide the humble and forgive your sins, if you’ll just admit your wrongs.
Pray over the areas in your life where you’ve stumbled and detoured from God’s path, where you’ve made mistakes and sinned, where you’ve fallen short of all God desires from your life. Own up to your sins and ask God’s forgiveness. Ask him to show you a better way and to help you move forward.
